Dr. Chris Butler
I’m Dr. Chris Butler. As an Oregon native and Oregon Coast Native American, I am proud to serve this great community. I was born on the Oregon coast and grew up there and in the Willamette Valley. After graduating from Oregon State University and the OHSU School of Dentistry, we settled in the beautiful town of Eugene, where my wife Christy and I originally met in 1998.
Although, I originally never thought I would go to college, I had exposure to dentistry in numerous ways through the years that continued to pique my interest.
In my youth, I experienced dental treatment that resulted in fear and anxiety that made me not want to return. These experiences have helped shape my commitment as a dentist to ensuring my patients are aware of their options to relieve fear and anxiety and are as comfortable as possible with any treatment I provide.
In my teens, a dental student taking his boards chose me to be a patient for him to place fillings on for his dental boards. I spent three days at the OHSU Dental School campus watching and learning how meticulous and rewarding a profession this young man was entering.
Later, I also learned that access to dentistry is difficult for many, including our own family at the time. My step-daughter had a toothache and we were unable to find someone to see her in that emergent situation. So, once we decided I would go to college, dentistry was an easy choice.
Since founding Butler Family Dental in 2014 alongside my wife of over 25 years, Christy, we have been honored to have my twin step-daughters follow in my footsteps and also become dentists. As of 2025, we are all working together as a true family dental practice!
We take pride in providing exceptional care to patients near and far, including those traveling from Central Oregon, Alaska and the Oregon Coast. Whether you need preventive care, restorative treatments, implant dentistry, or emergency services, we are here to help you achieve and maintain a healthy, confident smile.
Outside of dentistry, I’m an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoy capturing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and beyond through landscape photography which you can find samples of throughout our office. You might also find me out mountain biking, playing electric guitar, or experimenting with new hobbies like home-brewing beer and stained glass art. Most of all, I cherish time spent with my family, pets, and the adventures and memories that come with a great road trip.
I look forward to welcoming you to our practice and helping you feel at home at Butler Family Dental!
